Pearl Secret

Group winning sprinter Pearl Secret was sourced by Creighton Schwartz Bloodstock at the end of his racing career for just 42,000gns at Tattersalls. He was syndicated and sent to stand at Rosin Close's Bucklands Farm & Stud, now Chapel Stud, for a fee of £4,000 and covered an initial book 60 mares.

He was well supported, covering half-sisters to Gr.1 winners The Tin Man and Sands Of Mali, while his first foals made up to 42,000gns and were purchased by Jamie Railton, Tally-Ho Stud, Redwall Bloodstock, Norris/Huntingdon etc. His second book was equally as strong with German Guineas winner Dakhla Oasis, Italian Guineas winner Conselice and the Stakes producing mares Tilly's Chilli, Sweet Cecily, Zafeen Speed, No Education and Bartel.

Trained by David Barron for Qatar Racing, Pearl Secret won at York on his only start as a two-year-old and remained unbeaten on his first three starts at three, including the Listed Scurry Stakes. On his only start at four he ran third in the Gr.1 King's Stand Stakes to Sole Power and the following year he was second in the Gr.2 Temple Stakes and won the Listed Beverly Bullet. He went one better as a five-year-old and won the Temple Stakes and was only beaten a length by Goldream in the King's Stand.

David Barron said: “Pearl Secret was the quickest and toughest horse that I have ever trained. With a bit more luck he would have won a Group One.”

Pearl Secret is by speed sire Compton Place out of the Stakes-winning mare Our Little Secret, who won the City Wall Stakes at Chester, and is from the family of dual Gr.1-winning sprinter and sire Dutch Art. For more details on Pearl Secret click here.
