We are currently recruiting for a highly motivated and passionate Stud Hand to join our small and friendly team here at Salcey Forest Stud. This is an excellent opportunity for someone wishing to join a leading stud farm, with state of the art facilities and high-class bloodstock.
Duties will include handling mares and foals, general yard duties and mucking out, assisting the vet and farrier with routine work, maintaining paddock standards and some general maintenance, feeding and grooming, as well as preparation of mares, foals and yearlings for public auction and presentation at the same.
There might be some time away from the stud when taking mares for covers and also when attending the sales, where the ability to drive a 3.5t horsebox would be an advantage but not essential.
The general hours of work are 7am-12.30 and then 2.30-5.30pm depending on the workload and additional hours may be required as necessary. Staff are given every second weekend off and get a half day off on the working week.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Yearling Manager to join the team at Salcey Forest Stud in Henley-in-Arden. This is an excellent opportunity for someone wishing to join a leading stud farm, with state of the art facilities and high-class bloodstock.
With a current broodmare band of 42 mares and possibly up to as many yearlings each year. Some of which are retained to go into training and others will need to be prepared and presented at public auction.
The successful applicant should have a minimum of 3-5 years experience in a similar role, managing a small team of staff and preparing high-value bloodstock for public auction. Strong leadership skills are essential and the ability to fit in with other valued members of staff is of high importance.
An equine qualification would be desirable and excellent references are essential.
As we are a small team, duties will include general yard duties as well as the main role of managing staff and overseeing the yearlings progress. We like to promote progression for all staff and as a senior member of staff, teaching younger employees the ropes will occasionally be part of the role.
There will obviously be some time away from the stud when taking horses to the sales, where the ability to drive a 3.5t horsebox would be a distinct advantage.
